Short update
I have Sikaflex/Glued the Euro Gripdeck (Anti-slip) Euro Birch exterior plywood down to the factory steel floor.
There’s also 9x M6 bolts for a backup safety using the 9 factory holes in the floor standard in 2023 New Zealand spec models of the 78 series.
The other option in Troopy building
So in the photo above you can see an aluminium spine which anchors the bed base upright and a stainless steel custom folded bulkhead/panel on the right hand side/driver side which the bed top is attached with a number of hinges.
In the for ground is the base/docking Redarc Go Block PowerDock which I’m also using as the base mount for the rear of my left hand side front sink bench mounting point, the aluminium piece of angle line in the front is the other base anchor point for the same panel and in between the PowerDock and the front mounting point is the space for my feet when using my fridge freezer unit Top has a temporary table for eating and working from when stuck inside due to bad weather outside.
The left hand side just behind the passenger seat connected to the left-hand wall is my ARB air compressor mounting plate. The compressor mounted in the wall space between the outer panels and this mounting plate on the right hand side of this plate is another piece of angle and this is the wall mounting for the fridge mounting location.
So in this photo above you can see the driver side again up close with the folded stainless steel custom laser cut to match the original panel work of the lower part of the right hand factory interior panels, and utilises all the factory mounting points for the panels to mount this spine I should’ve used a aluminium instead of stainless steel to save weight but because of my Brain Injury I was unable to work out the engineering of strength required to thickness so decided to take the easy route and overbuild it slightly with 3 mm thick stainless steel instead .
At the top you can see two piano hinges that the top part is going to be two separate hinged panels that can be open to access the space in the body cavity one part I’ll be putting emergency rations of freeze-dried meals and some extra warm clothing just in case stuck on the wrong side of the river after a short storm in New Zealand or some other situation that I might need to hunker down for a few days and not panic about food and other supplies needed.
More to come in future posts at the moment I’m in the process of selling the edges of the grip deck ply to protect it from any moisture as it will probably get muddy and dirty when using in the off-road situation that I’m planning to camping.
