Project Troopy Update – August

Finishing Touches: Custom Panel Work for the Garmin Power Switch

The last month or two have been busy ones, with a lot of time spent on the small but important details that really bring a project together. Most of my focus has been on finishing off wiring runs hidden away inside the bodywork, making sure everything is neat, secure, and reliable for the long term.

One of the standout tasks was figuring out how to mount the Garmin power switch in a way that was both smart and functional. The standard mounting options didn’t quite suit my setup, so I decided to go custom.

How a Garmin PowerSwitch is Normally Finished Off and Mounted

I started by making up a template, then crafted a custom facial plate designed to surround the Garmin power switch. The end result works like a sandwich — the plate frames the switch neatly, and once mounted, the whole setup sits securely on the backside of my panel work I had routed out. This routing lets the switch sit almost flush with the surface, giving it a clean, professional look.

It might look simple and straightforward, but this kind of detail work takes time, patience, and a fair bit of energy. Still, I’m stoked with how it’s coming together.

More updates on this build coming in the next post — there’s still plenty to share!
