Who am I?

I am Pete

Adventurer, Photographer, Tour Driver, & Too Much More

My full name is Peter Goodman, also known as Kiwi Pete, Big Bad Pete, Bad Pete, Goodo, Charlie, and maybe a few more names over the years.

I grew up on a farm, in Port Albert/Wharehine, close to Wellsford in Northland, New Zealand.

Left School after getting an apprenticeship in Motorcycle Engineering, finishing my time in 1985 & became the Service Manager at Rodney Honda Centre (which closed in 1988).

Left NZ on my first O.E. (overseas experience) from early 1987 to late 1989 working as motorcycles mechanic part time to fund my travel and photography adventures about the UK and Europe.

Returned home to Wellsford/NZ and working in my old Job (now called Payne Motors) managing the motorcycle department, before I decided it was time to make a life change and work in adventure tourism work.

So learnt to drive buses and passing my test in NZ.

Return to the UK in January 1993 and started driving Adventure (Overland Trucks) and Tour Buses (Contiki etc) about Europe, Scandinavia and North Africa.

After this returning home to NZ in 1998, working tourism, as small engines mechanic, a motorcycle mechanic, all to help fund NZ and overseas adventures.

My hobbies were, mountain biking, white water kayaking, bikepacking, photography, mountain unicycling, and loads more.

In 2015 I started “Bikepacking New Zealand” facebook group, I was thinking that 50 members was possible and 100 members would be awesome.

But this all changed in late 2017 after an unplanned dismount! (just riding to work) ending up landing head first resulting with a sTBI (severe traumatic brain injury) and I have been trying to lean to live with a brain injury ever since.

I have stop riding any motorcycles or bicycles now because of my Brain Injury.

So now it’s walking with my assistance dog Zippy, managing my rest, and taking photographs about New Zealand in my Micro Adventure Overland/Camper (a Suzuki Jimny 4X4) it’s my adventure motorcycle/bikepacking replacement.

Having fun at work (mid 2010’s) long time friend (Mark) found this hairpiece to wear!
